What is an optometrist?

 

An optometrist is the primary health-care provider for vision and eye

health concerns in Ontario. Optometrists have completed a Bachelor’s

degree prior to completing an additional 4 year Doctorate of Optometry

degree. Optometrists are highly educated and clinically trained to examine

and treat the eyes and visual systems of any patient, regardless of their age.


Dr. Mark C. Goodwin, O.D.

Dr. Goodwin received his Bachelor of Science degree and his Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Waterloo in 1995. He began his career shortly thereafter at the Barrhaven Optometric Centre in Nepean, ON. In 2002, he returned to his home town of Brockville, ON, where he joined the Brockville Optometric Centre team.

Having realized there was a need for Leeds and North Grenville’s growing community, Dr. Goodwin and Dr. Barlow decided to open a brand new optometric practice in Kemptville, ON. Dr. Goodwin and Barlow continue to provide optometric care to patients in Brockville and surrounding areas. Dr. Goodwin resides in Brockville and enjoys spending time with his family. His hobbies include boating, swimming, and tennis. He is a proud member of the Ontario Association of OptometristsCanadian Association of Optometrists, and the College of Optometrists of Ontario .


Dr. Marc S. Barlow, O.D.

Dr. Barlow graduated with a Bachelor of Science with a concentration in Biology from Bowling Green State University, in Ohio. He then graduated with a Doctorate in optometry from the University of Waterloo in 2008. Upon graduation, Dr. Barlow returned to his home town of Brockville, ON where he provides full scope optometric eye care. In 2018, Dr. Barlow and Dr. Goodwin decided to open a second optometric practice in the Leeds and North Grenville community. Dr. Barlow currently resides in the Brockville area with his wife and their two children.  In addition to his busy family life he enjoys playing hockey on a regular basis. He is a proud member of the Ontario Association of OptometristsCanadian Association of Optometrists, and the College of Optometrists of Ontario.


Meet Our Optician


What is an optician?

 

Licensed opticians are important members of the eye care team. They are trained and licensed through a two year college program and a national examination to fabricate, fit and adjust vision aids such as eyeglasses, contact lenses, and low vision devices based on the prescription of an optometrist.


Kristin Frizell, RO

Kristin joined the Brockville Optometric Centre team in  2012. She graduated from Georgian College in Barrie, ON in 2008 with an Opticianry diploma in Health Sciences.  She began working in the optical field in 2001 and has experience working in a retail optical setting.   In her spare time she enjoys playing many sports  and spending time with her family
