Dr. Akshu Valecha, O.D.

Dr. Akshu Valecha graduated with honours from the University of Guelph in 2020 with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science. She earned her Doctor of Optometry degree in 2024 from the University of Waterloo, graduating on the Dean’s Honour list.

During her optometry training, she interned in Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan, gaining experience in primary care and managing conditions like glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy. She also completed externships in Edmonton, Alberta, where she worked in a refractive surgery clinic, managing LASIK, SMILE, PRK, Cornea Cross-Linking, and RLE procedures.

In 2021, Dr. Valecha volunteered with VOSH International in the Philippines, providing eye exams and glasses to rural communities with limited access to vision care. She is an active member of the Canadian and Ontario Associations of Optometrists.

Dr. Valecha has a special interest in dry eyes and is excited to provide quality eye care to the residents of Brockville.
